Every January there seems to be some kind of social media frenzy, people everywhere outlining their New Year Resolution goals. Personally, I’m not usually one for the New Year, New Me – however, this year’s different. This year is the year for new challenges, setting goals and getting my life on track. Do you ever look at your life and think, “man, what am I doing, I’m 20 something, I have no savings and I’m still renting, going out every weekend getting smashed and wasting my money on pointless shit!” Well that’s been me for the past 6 years, HA!
I’ve recently started to become very reflective. The other day I showed my boyfriend some photographs of me at around aged 18-21. I looked enormous. And this is not me fat shaming one bit. I’m all about being body positive, as long as you lead a healthy and happy life – who am I to judge? It’s just for my height and body shape at that period in my life I wasn’t healthy. I didn’t look happy either. And you know what I realised, I never can remember being that big. I mean I knew I was over weight but I think you just get carried away – stuck in a rut almost. You have a stressful day working 12-14 hours and all you want to do is grab something quick (and unhealthy) to compensate. Exercise is the LAST thing on your mind no matter how many times people tell you ‘exercise will do you wonders.’
If you haven’t seen my previous weight loss journey post here you might not know in the past year I’ve lost over two stone. I want to ensure I keep the weight off whilst maintaining a healthy attitude towards exercise and food. So me and my boyfriend thought enough is enough. We need to change our eating habits and start being the people we first fell in love with (minus the partying ha!). From the 1st Jan we set ourselves a 6 month challenge and here are the rules:
Veganism and The 6 month Challenge
Although not a rule, my other lifestyle change was to transition from Vegetarian to Vegan. I started to transition to veganism in December. Although health reasons weren’t necessarily the reason why I transitioned to Veganism, I do think it has helped with the healthy eating. I have had to change my mindset about food. Veganism for me is going to be a way of life not just for the 6 month challenge. I thought I’d give it a mention anyway incase you lovely lot have any advice for me! The hardest part so far, I find, is learning about CF and Vegan friendly Cosmetics and Skincare. If anyone has any amazing blogs / articles I can have a look at please comment them below!
New Years Resolutions aren’t for everyone. But I honestly believe setting yourself a challenge helps you grow both individually and together if your partaking with a partner. I hope this post has inspired you to set some goals for the near future. Let me know how you get on!
