EMPOWERING WOMEN – LOTD COLLAB
Today I wanted to have a lil heart to heart girls. I’ve spoken many times both on my blog and on my YouTube channel about spreading positivity and empowering other girls. I’ve experienced girls being mean based appearance and it’s just not on. You dress the way you dress because that’s how you want to dress. No one should tell you how you should dress. It really grates on me when people judge you before they even know you. Women feel enough pressure without being laughed at. I used to care so much what people think, so much so I wouldn’t dye my hair the wacky colours I’d like too just because I was too afraid about what people would have to say. Now, I don’t care. Why should we? We live our lives for ourselves and not to please others.
Instead of breaking one another down all the time we should be empowering one another, spurring each other on! What ever your goals are for 2018 just remember you set them in place for no one else but yourself. So whatever it takes, you go ahead and make those goals a reality. People will always have something to say. People think they know best for your situation but the reality is – we all have to make our own mistakes in life to learn valuable lessons and to get where we want to be.
STICK TO YOUR GUNS
Don’t feel like you need to justify yourself when talking about your goals. This is one thing I find difficult when I talk to certain people. I find myself coming round to the idea that I might fail and those people might be right. That’s not okay. We set ourselves goals to achieve. We may not achieve all of them right away but I’m sure you’ll agree, we will try damn hard to get there. This can be said for career choices, hobbies and anything else you have going on in your life. I always think – people who care about you, will usually have the biggest opinions, because they care. They think they know what’s best for you, and don’t get me wrong sometimes they do. However, if you have a family friend or family member who has no experience in a goal you’ve set yourself chances are, they don’t know what they’re talking about. Everyone seems to know about everything these days, and that’s fine, as long as it’s not affecting your morale and ambition to go further in a negative way.
KINDNESS COSTS NOTHING
Everyone has shit going on. Whether it’s family stuff, friendship stuff or relationship stuff chances are at some point you’ll be having a rough time. So I feel like we all need to remember that it could be the person serving you in the shop, the person walking past you in the street or the person you get frustrated at over the phone for selling something to you. Everyone could do with a little more kindness in their life – especially with what’s going on in the world right now. There’s been a couple of times when I’ve had people (males) say to me “cheer up love, or it will never happen”. They’ve walked past me whilst I’ve been upset saying this. It’s like, “aw cheers mate, I was feeling really down until you made that belittling comment…you’ve really helped boost my mood”. This is not helpful. I never understood why some men say this. It’s like, “I’ll pretend to express my concern to you that I’ve noticed your down, but, in a demeaning manner”. If I notice someone’s upset I’ll always either ask them if they’re ok or give them a little friendly smile to know I’m thinking of them. I don’t want this to be a negative post, far from it. I do want, however, hopefully a few of you can relate to this post and we can have a little natter in the comments about it.
“Everyone is different and no one should be afraid to be themselves.”
Anyway, I think I’ve clearly rambled on far too long without mentioning this bladdy lovely outfit from LOTD. Mega babe vibes or what!? I thought this girl gang tee was particularly appropriate for this post since I’m clearly rambling on about us girls sticking together. The black culottes are currently on sale at a bloody bargain price of £8 I feel like these will most definitely be a staple piece in my wardrobe throughout winter and spring. Style them down with a pair of cool trainers or dress them up with a pair of stilettos you can’t really go wrong with culottes (and they’re SO comfortable when you’re having a bloated day treating yourself to all dat cake!) If you haven’t heard of LOTD they’re a funky fashion brand based in Manchester. “Everyone is different and no one should be afraid to be themselves.” Their ethos is absolutely everything I’m saying in this post. Don’t be afraid to be different. Be bold, be beautiful and most importantly BE YOU!
