I’m totally guilty of going through phases of falling out of love with the gym. But there comes a point within said phase where I truly have to push myself to jump back in. Today I’m going to share with you my top tips on getting your arse out of bed and into that weight room.
1. TAKE SMALL STEPS
Think about going to the gym and doing something, anything, on your first session back at the gym. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to do a full blown workout – especially if it’s been a while. Once you get into the workout you might surprise yourself by setting a smaller target for the first sesh!
2. EAT TODAY | FOR TOMORROW
People seem to have this mentality: ‘I’m starting my diet Monday, so I can treat myself to a last supper of sweets and chocolate tonight’. This is the wrong attitude. Not only because it will inhibit your workout the next day due to your sugar levels being all over the place but subconsciously you’re saying to yourself you can’t have these food items for the forceable future. This isn’t healthy. A healthy lifestyle is all about balance and by restricting your body so much your setting yourself up for failure. Try eating lost of veggies, good fats and opt for better carbs like sweet potatoes rather than white potatoes. The key is, to always stay full – by drinking plenty of water and eating often. How many times I’ve slipped up because I let myself get too hungry – do you hear me huns!? They do say abs are made in the kitchen after all.

3. GRAB A TAPE MEASURE
Now I’m not one for jumping on the scales every week. I don’t think it’s healthy. However, I do think taking measurements and before pics of your body is extremely helpful. Even if you’re not in it for making drastic changes it’s always good to have a starting point. Seeing little changes in your physique really spurs you on to keep going.
4. FIND A GYM BUDDY
Sometimes people find the gym intimidating ESPECIALLY if they haven’t been before. Is this you? If so, find someone your comfortable with to go hit up a session with you. The gym can be really fun. Scrap that, the gym SHOULD be really fun. If you’re not enjoying it switch up your workout to find something else which suits you.
5. PLAN YOUR WORKOUT
There’s SO many amazing fitness YouTubers you can follow to get workout ideas. Even if you feel like they may be too advance for you you can research the easier version of what you see them do.
I’ve also shown my workouts in previous videos if you’re interested in having a nosey at those. (Don’t forget to sub too – shamless plug)
Now come on, lets make positive changes together – get your ass up and make some healthy changes to your life gal! I believe in you! You got this…
